My husband had a total left knee replacement a week ago at this hospital. His surgeon and the entire 6th floor staff (orthopedic floor) were incredible. This was the best hospital experience we have ever encountered. Everyone was attentive, caring, supportive, and kind from start to finish. We can’t recommend Rex Hospital enough! Thank you all so much!!

Rex Hospital continues to impress me. We always recommend our friends and family to go there. I was in the ER yesterday and was blown away by the nurses and doctors. They all went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and that I was taken care of from the moment I arrived, through testing, all the way to treatment. I never felt ignored or rushed. They are experts in their craft and Rex is the only hospital in NC I would actually recommend- and I have had experience with a lottt of hospitals. Never send anyone you actually like to Duke.

This is the best hospital around.. period. The doctors and nurse's on 3 East treated me like gold. Just the positivity of this team probably helps with the healing. I can't remember all their names if I forgot somebody I'm sorry but Whitney, Kiki, Brenda, Linda they all deserve a raise. Dr Cook knows his stuff and was straight to the point and had a plan. The man genuinely cares about his patients. One day a representative from the hospital came in making sure I was being treated good and I told him it's the best experience I've ever had I felt like I was on a cruise ship or something. Even the guys that brought me food everyday were totally pro. The folks on 3 East really love their job. On day 2 a couple nurses showed up with towels ready to turn the water on. They put plastic over my bad hand and they weren't playing around so I jumped in the shower. This wonderful caring group of people got me healed and back to work before the week was out. The nurses and doctor here are on point and I can't say enough Thank you so much to all of you.

I wanted to give a shoutout to the team from the hospital today. My nurse Carmen was so good. An absolute pleasure to talk with and she definitely made me feel at ease on an already stressful day. The student nurse anesthesia Ashley and Mazen were great as well. Super attentive and kind when helping me today. Kimberly and Jackie were also amazing with my recovery. There was one other nurse in my recovery but I cannot remember her name (I’m sorry!) she was amazing too. Everyone was great with my care today. Special shoutout to my anesthesiologist Dr Papier (I hope I spelled that right). He was such a joy to talk to and really put me at ease with my biggest fear which was going under. You could immediately tell this was his calling and he was made for this job.

HUGE shout out to Ayana, who works in Security! I was lost. Really lost. Couldn't find my car and she picked me up and drove me to my car...which was NOT parked in the garage closest to me. I was exhausted and she drove me right to my car. She is an absolute professional and a delight! Rex is lucky to have her!

I took my husband to Rex ER on 1/7/25. The staff was very attentive and polite. His doctor Robert Porter PA, has a very unique bedside manner! He was extremely wonderful and humorous. He informed us on what to expect and why straight from the beginning examination. This really helped my husband to relax considering he is rarely the patient at 70 years old. Thank you to all the staff on shift and may you bring a smile to other patients.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the UNC Rex doctors, nurses and staff who took such good care of me this spring. I was there in April and then again in May for two major thoracic surgeries, and the 4th floor nurses were so wonderful during my hospital stay! All other staff throughout my multiple visits were polite, professional and friendly, and wait times were reasonable. My thoracic surgeon, Dr White, is excellent at his job and very kind. He explained things clearly, called me back when I had questions, and got me through a pretty tricky surgery. I don’t know the last time a doctor tried so hard to cure me of anything, and I will never forget him and his team. I would recommend this hospital if anyone needs advanced surgery or care! Thank you again for making a hard time a little less hard.

Nurse April W.! She made my mom and I forget we were at a hospital for a serious procedure! Amazing personality, excellent bedside manner, genuine concern for my mom. My mom checked in for a heart procedure at the Vascular Center. We are here often and the service is always great, but today from the initial check in with Claude to the prep with Nurse Michael, Connie, April W. and the IV Team the service was impeccable. The world is a tough place for lots of people, Health concerns can be scary and overwhelming but the team we had today made us feel at ease, cared for and supported. Thank you Rex Vascular.

Dr. Monica Shukla-Udawatta at UNC Health Pediatric Gastroenterology was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we met her, she was kind, compassionate, patient, and genuinely caring. She took an incredible amount of time speaking with my 16-year-old son and truly listened to him in a way that made him feel comfortable, respected, and understood. What stood out the most was that we never felt rushed for a single moment. In today’s healthcare environment, where appointments can often feel hurried, Dr. Shukla-Udawatta was a refreshing reminder of what exceptional patient care should look like. She carefully explained everything in detail, answered every question thoroughly, and made sure both my son and I fully understood the plan moving forward. Her empathy, professionalism, and sincere concern for her patients are truly remarkable. She is an incredible asset to the UNC Health system and a physician who clearly cares deeply about the children and families she treats. We left the appointment feeling reassured, informed, and grateful to have been under her care. I cannot recommend Dr. Monica Shukla-Udawatta highly enough. Truly a five-star experience from start to finish.

I've never met such a kind and caring staff at a hospital. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the friendly and helpful registration desk staff. Then the sweet and kind attendants pushed my dad in the complimentary wheelchair for his tests. The warm and professional nurses, made us feel like he was in great hands. They each made is feel so welcome and you can tell they care about the patients. Thank you for such a great experience!
